Found this place through Yelp while we were staying in the area. We have not had basque food before and didn't know what to expect. The service was outstanding......they are really friendly. They offered a sample of their homemade Chorizo sausage and it was delicious!! The food we ordered was very good and they offer fresh squeezed juices too. If in the area again, we will definitely go back!!

This has always been the place my family visits while in Carson, and it hasn't changed much over the years. Basque is one of the few cuisines unique to northern Nevada, and this is one of the best spots for homemade chorizo, tamales, and breakfast. I usually order some sort of egg and chorizo breakfast with their fresh squeezed orange juice, but my husband ordered the Sheeper cheese burger (one beef and one chorizo party) and said it was fantastic. You can also purchase chorizo and tamales to take home and cook yourself. We've always gotten good service; this is a family-owned restaurant, so most of the staff are relations to Pete, who you still see in there cooking.

I've only eaten the chorizo from Villa Basque, but man, is it delicious! And being a heat lover, of course I always opt for the spicy. I popped in here today to pick up a few packs of chorizo to have at home. The customer service is always very friendly and you have your choice of frozen packs or fresh, all perfectly vacuum sealed, weighed and priced. I think the chorizo is about $7 per pound, which isn't bad at all considering how seriously flavorful, moist and fresh it is! I got 8 large sausages for about $16. They sell a few other items, but I would't bother making the trip for anything but the house made chorizo.

STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING and Eat Here!!! I had never eaten here let alone heard of this place, but it is so good. I ordered the biscuits and gravy 1/2 and 1/2 (2 biscuits and a mountain of potatoes) with chorizo. It was a massive portion at an incredible price. The food was bursting with flavor and did not disappoint.

Went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. It was busy, but we were seated immediately upon arrival. I had the breakfast burrito and the fresh squeezed orange juice. It was a huge burrito and it was vary tasty. We'll be back to try more of the menu.

Love their chorizo and just about everything we have had there for breakfast and lunch. Good service, good atmosphere, very clean, good parking. Next time you visit Carson City, load 730 Basque into your GPS and get ready to have an enjoyable meal.

Found this place on Yelp and it was great. Would definitely visit often if we lived in the area. Had the Special which was a torta with chorizo and carne assada. We then had to try the green chili which is totally different than green chili in Arizona and New Mexico BUT was very good. So then we had to share a flan....and it was good too! If you are ever close by give this place a try!!

I had never had Basque chorizo and was given a sample and it was excellent so I ordered the chorizo tacos that came with rice and beans. Everything was excellent. My companion had a chorizo burrito that could have been split among 3 people. Our waitress was wonderful and the other patrons said this a regular place for them. I found this great place through YELP and want to help direct other visitors to Carson City to a good place to visit.

This is by far the best breakfast place we have found in Carson City. Very friendly service, amazing food. The basque chorizo is to die for. It's tender, flavorful and most importantly lean. My chorizo scramble had no grease at all on the plate. Highly recommended for breakfast or lunch.

Breakfast with my best friend. Awesome home made hash with eggs and potatoes. Only downfall was the 20 minutes it took us to get our check when we were done eating. Overall, one of my favorite breakfast places...

Consistent in service and excellent food! I also buy the Basque Chorizo from their meat dept. Best Basque Chorizo in California and Nevada!

Great food for breakfast. Either American or Mexican, it is all good. Large portions so bring your appetite. This is where the locals go and I would too. Chorizo is made in house and you can really smell the meat as it is cooked and served to customers. Warning: if you are NOT into spicy food (I am not either) you may want to stick to the American breakfast options. Even the country potatoes have a good amount of paprika or chili powder dusted over them. If you can't handle the level of spiciness please speak with the server and they are happy to recommend an alternative such as fruit or fries. Very good coffee and it is served hot. Don't burn yourself. I saw a few kids having hot chocolate and it is big with lots of whip cream on top. Highly recommend it. Pancakes and french toast looked great at another table and they are not small. In fact a 10-year old put away a whole plate of pancakes on his own, so it must be good. They also have an espresso machine for all the Starbuck's/Latte-heads out there as well. Lot of options and I am sure you will find something for everyone. Price is moderate. Great customer service. Good food. Large portions. I recommend eating a hearty breakfast before you start your drive across US-50, the "Loneliest Road in America." Enjoy and safe travels.

Being raised in a predominant Mexican household, I know good Chorizo when I see/smell/eat it; this place truly delivered! I ordered the Chorizo sandwich special, which included: grilled onions, bell pepper, pepperjack cheese all melted together over two links of chorizo. It was phenomenal! The fries looked like sweet potato fries and kind of had a hint of sweetness, as well; they were delicious! After skimming over some of the other reviews I'm excited to try out their breakfast menu -- or more specifically, their breakfast burritos and gravy. The ambiance, the prices and - most definitely - the service here are exceptional! Which pleases me to see that this place stays pretty busy, at least in the lunch hours that I have been here. The seating isn't THAT limited, but I'd definitely recommend getting in a tad bit earlier than the typical lunch rush. This is definitely my new favorite spot in Carson City.

I've been to this place a few times before I became an active on yelp, and we knew this place have a perfect tasty yummy chorizo yes homemade chorizo. I ordered chorizo ranchero #9. The food was so delicious especially the chorizo wow it was so yummy, I could eat a lot of it. The rice was tasty too. Refried beans was good eventhough I'm not a big fan of it but it was good. My husband ordered a carnival chorizo salad and he said the salad was kinda like a taco salad with rice & beans on the bottom & a lots of chorizo and salsa. The taste was perfect. Service was excellent and friendly plus super fast.

The other day we were on are way to Reno to do some shopping, and, as luck would have it, we were hungry. My wife's never been to Villa Basque, and this was my chance. I could experience lunch, and she could have her first visit. It was, in my mind, the perfect storm (wrong word, but 'situation' seems a lot less graphic). Anyway, lunch is a new experience, and so worth it. Lea had a burrito and I had the basque cheeseburger. The waitress offered to bring Lea's burrito 'wet', and she chose the green sauce. It was an outstanding decision, as I was able to have some of it like it was a soup, very tasty. The basque cheeseburger features a single pattie of chorizo. I opted into the french fries and not the salad, which are offered as choices with the burger. The fries also served well as a vehicle to transfer green sauce from my wife's side bowl to my mouth. There will be those that wonder about the 'five star' rating. It's all about the food and the friendly folks that work there. It's not about a lot of the other things that folks often find so important. This is great food, reasonably priced, and served by nice people. An example of this was that when they found out it was my wife's first visit, they brought her out a little sample of the chorizo. We suffered, and we'll be back.

Lunch with two friends, they both had tuna salads and I had the vegetarian burrito. The food was perfectly prepared and delicious. The service, friendly and respectful. All that we wanted and more, we will be back.

This place is a gem! Every time we go to Carson we have to buy a few packs of Pete's Basque chorizo to take home. They have a fridge section with ground Basque chorizo that I use to make an epic spaghetti and the linked kind that I usually grill up and have on a bun with sauteed red bell peppers and onion. They are also great for basque soup! They even have a spicy kind if you are into that. I have had a lot of chorizos and Pete's is the best in my book. =)

Great food top notch service I took the wife and boy here for lunch on Saturday the hot lamb sammich was killer as well as the chili beans wife had the chorizo breakfast burrito she liked it so much I got some that night so in short Villa Basque deli got me laid and they can get you laid too

I've had a lot of chorizo in my life, and the chorizo at Villa Basque has to be near the top. I had the Basque burrito which came with a hearty helping of eggs, potato, cheese, grilled onions& peppers, and of course, chorizo. The chorizo was not greasy at all. It was nice to not have a puddle of chorizo grease on my plate and hands. I gave it my all, but I couldn't quite finish the whole burrito. I definitely didn't even think about food a long time after devouring 90% of it.

They make truely authentic chorizo in house, large menu for all tastes, family owned and run. Luis is a great server, he was very attentive and knowledgeable about the food. My favorite dish is the seafood paella! Very affordable too.

There are some places you visit with incredibly high expectations, this was one of them. My parents were headed to Carson for some shopping and I decided to join them for breakfast somewhere. I am hearing suggestions that leave me less than excited for breakfast so I suggest Villa Basque. Neither seemed real sure but agreed to give it a shot. We were able to get a table immediately, a friendly gentleman got our drink order and said he would get us some chorizo to try, oh my god, amazing! My biggest concern here was that the chorizo would be too spicy for my parents, not the case at all! I ordered the eggs and chorizo links, my eggs were cooked perfectly, the chorizo continued to be incredible, the potatoes are also good but they fail to compare to the rest of the meal. Mom got her favorite breakfast, huevos ranchero and really enjoyed it (90% of the time she leaves disappointed, not even close here). Dad got the basque omelet and enjoyed everything on the plate. I don't think there was anything we ordered that we didn't enjoy. I can't wait to come back and try their paella!

Been spending some QT in the CV (Carson Valley) lately, and if you know NNV (Northern Nevada), you know it's home to a large segment of our Basque population and their hearty, homestyle eats, derived from their sheep herding heritage. So when I discovered Villa Basque, and their massive breakfast burrito, on Yelp last Sunday, I was sad to find it closed. I guess they deserve a day off. Fortunately, this past Saturday, I was in the area again with a roaring appetite, so after a morning outdoors, my friend and I made a B-Line to get our hands on that burrito! We grabbed a table and were warmly greeted by Marta. It was clear from her knowledge of the restaurants history and menu, she'd been a part of this restaurant for quite some time. I bet my friend at least 15 years, and I hit it on the head! That really tells you something about a place. When we told her we'd never been in before, she was utterly shocked, and insisted on bringing us a taste of their homemade chorizo (delicious with strong notes of paprika and garlic), which they've been serving since 1984! We came for the behemoth burrito, a 14" tortilla stuffed with eggs, cheese, potatoes, bell pepper, onions, and of course, chorizo. Assembled, it's easily the size of an infant. I ordered mine smothered in gravy (+ $1.50), which had onions and large pieces of thick cut bacon in it, with fresh jalapenos (+ $.50)! Add a little cholula and this is a breakfast of champions. I could've gotten through the whole thing, but decided to save half for the next morning. This is the kind of place I love finding in Northern Nevada. The establishment, the employees, and their products proudly represent the history and culture of our region. Villa Basque is the kind of place anyone visiting should make a point to visit. The Vaquero and a number of other basque inspired dishes were calling to me, so I know I'll return again soon.

Had breakfast there this morning. My husband ordered that famous breakfast burrito everyone is raving about and I had the homemade corn beef hash and eggs. I added a side a their gravy to my dish as well. When breakfast arrived I was surprised that not only did it come quickly but but it was all homemade! Good job to the chef! Everything was homemade except for the English muffin. If you're a cook like me, you know homemade when you're eating it. We'll be back! :)

I'm definitely a fan of this place. Homemade chorizo is what they are known for. It's not your typical Mexican Chorizo. It's not as spicy and greasy but has great flavor to it. Their menu options are good. They have biscuits and gravy with chorizo, which my wife got and raved about it. Both times I got a chorizo burrito and it was awesome! The chroizo with sour cream, beans, rice and salsa!! Everything they were bringing out of the kitchen looked awesome. I'm kind of glad this place is 450 miles away from home or I'd weigh 450 lbs. If you are in the Carson City area, give it a try. The building looks a bit odd for a restaurant but the food and service are great. Very casual and nothing but locals hanging out.

When I first came here to Carson City visiting, looking around I didn't think there was going to be any good places to eat. OK, I've been proven wrong. I did find a few good places and now I can add Villa Basque Deli to the list of hits! I pays to have a local guide to local eateries. I've never had Basque food before so it's all new to me. As we enter, I see big freezers full of products to take home. There are tamales and various chorizo offerings. It's all more expensive than the chorizo I see at the grocery store, but probably a lot better. My friend says she has taken home the chorizo and cooked it with scrambled eggs. We arrive for breakfast and the place is pretty busy. We seat ourselves, and a server is over right away. I'm directed that I must try the chicken fried steak .... not something I normally order, but well, when in Rome ...... I see they do fresh squeezed OJ here. When they say fresh squeezed, they really mean it, there's a juice squeezing machine and a big pile of oranges! How cool is that? OK, 2 chicken fried steaks for us! It comes with eggs, potatoes and toast. Slather all that in the gravy I'm told ..... OK here goes. While we wait, I can smell the lovely smells of tasty food being cooked. Looking at the other tables ..... this is no place for a diet! Our food arrives. OMG! That's a huge load of food! That chicken fried steak is twice the size I've seen before at some truck stop on the way to LA. All covered in gravy as were the potatoes. I had my eggs lookin up at me, so at least there was no gravy there. OK, here goes my first bite of this famous chicken fried steak ...... Holy Moly and drop dead rolling over! This is some off the charts tasting gravy and steak! The gravy tastes super rich, like there was a ton of butter in it or something. It's not all thick and gloppy like most places have. Slightly thinner and hella super tasty! The meat is good quality as well. Not all gristly like I might expect with a cheaper cut of meat. Wow, I wonder what this gravy would be like on a Rib Eye? My eggs were cooked exactly as ordered and the homefries mixed with the gravy were most excellent! My friend was so pleased with my reaction! I said there was no way I was gonna finish all this food. I left half the toast, some of the potatoes, but ate all the chicken fried steak. It may not be particularly Basque, but this sure was good! After this. I'll never think of chicken fried steak as red neck trucker food again ..... like most peeps in the Bay Area do. Are we gonna get to go shoot guns next? I'll say if you are ever passing through Carson City, this is a must stop. All the other food on the menu going out to the other tables looked super tasty and , yes, quite filling.

Thanks to the positive reviews of so many other Yelpers, my wife and I decided we had to make the trip to Carson for breakfast at Villa Basque. We arrived and checked out the selection of teas, oils and spices before going in and sitting at a booth in the restaurant area. We were immediately greeted and offered drinks. The server was really nice and friendly and I made the assumption she was one of the owners, could be wrong though. They serve fresh squeezed orange juice. And they mean fresh, they squeeze it after you order it. We looked at the menu for a while even though we both knew one of us was going to get the famous Basque burrito. After a couple of minutes I decided I'd try the Sierra omlette and my wife would be the one with the burrito cover in gravy in front of her. After a few, the plates arrived and looked delicious. The omlette was fluffy with plenty of chunks of chorizo and other meat and cheese inside. It was served with crispy potatoes that had chopped bell peppers and onions mixed in with them. It all tasted just as delicious as it looked. I added a little Chalula hot sauce to kick the spice up a notch. A few bites into my omelette, my wife could tell I was anxiously waiting to try the burrito. She obliged and cut me off a piece. After just the first bite I was able to honestly say that that breakfast burrito was the best I'd ever had. Everything about it was perfect. It's something that cannot be described, it needs to be eaten to be appreciated (well not really, look at the pictures and you'll see for yourself how delectable it looks). If you haven't already, do yourself a huge favor and give it a try. While paying, I noticed some cookies and macaroons on the counter for sale. I decided I'd grab a macaroon and save it for an afternoon snack. It was really good. Also, the have lots of stuff you can purchase and take home for later consumption. A couple things I noticed other than chorizo of course, were tamales and pupusas, both looked good. I'll be back soon to try something else on the menu and probably get that delicious bundle of joy they call the Basque Burrito again.

I had the chicken fried pork. OMG!! It was so good. They have the best gravy here. They also can put the gravy on the potatoes. It is fantastic. If you like chicken fried steak. This is the place to get it. Steak or pork it is fresh and it tasty.

I have never actually eaten at the deli, but have had my dad picking me up chorizo for years from this place. You must try Pete's Famous Chorizo. Comes in a big spiral or precut links. I throw it on the grill and eat it in a bun with some mustard. People from out of town order this stuff by the hundreds of pounds and even sale it for organization fund raisers.

Villa Basque Deli is easily one of the top 3 restaurants in Carson City. The place is famous for its chorizo and rightly so! Full of flavor and delicious, once you try it for the first time, you'll be taking some home every time you go! Any entrée that includes the homemade chorizo is definitely worth a try and the paella is just amazing. A true gem.

Service could have been better, but the breakfast chorizo burrito I got (no bell peppers, plzkthx!) wiped that out. While visiting friends here in Carson City, NV, one of them raved about this place. Swore up and down that it was really LOVE. Service was a bit surly from the woman who took my order, but my burrito... mi burrito! Where do I begin?! Rolled nice and tight, chock full of egg, chorizo, potatoes and onions. Holy shit balls - that was really some good stuff. I wanted to eat here for every meal, but hubby vetoed that. BOOO. I can't wait to go back and have a burrito and then see my friends! ;) Oh, I guess we can all eat here. Two great things.

Wow, it's impossible to not LOVE whatever you get from the Basque Deli. It's the best breakfast in town. Service is always great, and everyone is always extremely friendly. They have plenty of options on their menu, but nothing beats their chorizo. If you get the chance, definitely put this on your list of places to go in carson city

I have been eating Pete's famous Chorizo nearly my entire life. Since my earliest childhood years I cannot recall anyone who didn't like it. Beyond the the famous Battle Mountain Chorizo the other food is amazing too! The breakfast is unbelievable try the breakfast burrito be sure to get the gravy on it! Enjoy!

Ordered the homemade tamales, one with chicken and one with their famous chorizo, i.e. the #4 with an extra tamale. The tamales and rice/beans were all fine, but nothing special. Bizarre: The menu advertises the homemade tamales four separate times, yet you can't order a tamale by itself. In fact, a tamale only can only be ordered with the #4, which also comes with an enchilada. If you want two tamales, you have to pay an extra $2.

my dad has been buying chorizo here for years, but today for the first time we went in for breakfast. I had the breakfast burrito smothered in their house made gravy. It was delicious. One of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. The gravy is fantastic. It's made with bits of their famous chorizo. food came out fast and hot. This place was great. The food was very well served, the waitress was nice and very attentive she refilled are drinks before we were done with them and the food came out very fast. As far as the food goes it was delicious they make it as spicy as you like. There's plenty of parking and it's easy to find. I strongly recommend a visit. You can't go wrong with the chorizo it's the best.

One of the better dining spots in Carson City. Seeped in the traditions of Basque food, they offer a variety of Basque and Spanish flavors. Pete and the gang are well known throughout Northern Nevada for their Basque chorizo, and they do considerable business selling the awesome links for home BBQs. A couple of years ago they donated 100 lbs to two Nevada military units overseas for a BBQ with the flavor of home, and the event is still the talk of Iraq. Recently they have expanded their business with the sale of imported spices and olive oils from Europe.

There are so many places that have taken a nosedive in the Carson area in the past decade (Nugget, Sharkeys, Ormsby House), I loved finding this place and their good food. The omelettes are terrific--it's way too much food but that's okay. And the staff are great, too. You can get better tamales elsewhere, but everything else made with chorizo is worth getting. Best breakfast spot after Cracker Box!

1.7 Stars for the Food (2 for the chorizo) 1 Star for service .5 Star ambiance 1 star cleanliness A Nevada "Battle Born" native took us to the Villa Basque for lunch, bragging on the chorizo. He knew the place when it began in Battle Mountain and was delighted to find it moved to Carson City about the time he did. He says the chorizo is as good as one can find anywhere. He buys it from Villa Basque 20 pounds at a time. I had the chorizo salad. It was good. I'm trying to figure out how to get some home and share it around before it defrosts. Will I return? Probably. Cost $7.00

A truly wonderful experience. The chorizo is very flavorful. At the suggestion of the waitress, we tried the gravy, and we were so glad that we did. It was so good that we had to take some home.

Fast service, very good food, loved the gravy on the chicken fried steak. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. I will definitely be back to try the paella ;)

I'm a chorizo fan so I'm still wondering why I didn't have anything with chorizo in it when I lunched here the other day. I guess it's because I'm also a blue cheese fan and they had some kind of Blue Cheese Steak Burger on special. Turns out they call it a steak burger because they put A-1 on it. No, really. Anyway, I tried it anyway and it would have been a helluva lot better without the A-1. But the service was good, coffee decent, and the fries were pretty good, so I'm going to overlook the burger misstep and try something else on their very large menu.

Awesome breakfast menu and this was an good find when I was in Carson City. Good portion sizes and the prices while not the cheapest, are very reasonable for what you get. Eggs, potatoes and toast were all on point and very good. And the gravy the make is just so good.

Tried this place for the first time and had an Excellent Lunch ! The Clam chowder was the highlight of the meal. The best Clam chowder I have had in years! Very good place for Breakfast or lunch. Plan on 9 to 10 dollars a person. Enjoyed the Basque beans on the side and had a Lamb sandwich, French dip style. Good friendly service too.Great soups.

This is one of my favorite memories. The chorizo is NOT Mexican style, so be prepared for flavor, but just heat and vinegar. I made the trip from Winnemucca to Carson and made a stop specifically for Villa Basque Deli. I ordered the Basque Omlette. What I can tell you is that the chorizo is fantastic. I miss it now that it's not easily available to a Portlander. :( The omlette was cooked well and the ingredients were fresh. I like the Basque sauce, but the waitress offered to bring out a biscuit and gravy on the side so I could sample the gravy, too. I really liked their gravy and did my best to eat everything on my plate. Unfortunately, I no longer have sufficient capacity to eat such a HUGE plate of food. I maybe ate 1/2. I'd recommend thinking seriously about sharing plates at breakfast!

Villa Basque Deli is a treasure for local foodies. We don't have a lot of food in Nevada that we can call our own. Villa Basque Deli makes a chorizo, sometimes called Battle Mountain chorizo, that is the best I've tasted. Nevada has the nation's third largest Basque population and a chorizo is something Nevada could claim as a state food. I think people are more commonly familiar with Mexican chorizo. It's a spicier version of chorizo largely thanks to the amount of cumin they put in it. It can overwhelm a dish. Basque chorizo doesn't do that. I don't know the formula for Villa Basque Deli chorizo but other butchers will add sugar to it. By the way, it turns out Villa Basque Deli owner Pete learned to make chorizo from his uncle, who was the butcher for Economy Market in Ely. His uncle made the for the Basque Festival and other events where I learned to love chorizo when I was growing up. Foodies also note: Villa Basque Deli has a counter where they sell fresh chorizo, imported chorizo, Jamon, and three types of cheeses, including Basque sheep cheese. They also have other food items for sale. Oh, they also have a freezer with chorizo in there as well. The place is mostly taken up by tables where they serve customers breakfast and lunch. I almost always get something with chorizo and it's awesome. They will put their country gravy over potatoes on breakfast plates and that's tasty too. Chicken fried steak is a favorite of Yelper Kara and I tried that my last trip and liked that too. For my 600th Yelp review I hope to draw attention to a special place for foodies in Northern Nevada. It deserves your attention.

If you want to try good fresh Basque Chorizo this is the spot. Since I was here for lunch this time I thought I would try something different and had the Chorizo Salad. it was very good. Those with me had a Chorizo sandwich and a Chili Verde Omelets. They both thought the meals were great. This is a true hidden gem in Carson City. Hope to come back soon.

Family ran for a long time. Choricho from Battle Mountain on hand, lots of specialty items for sale in the front as well as EXCELLENT dishes & portions in the main dining room. The Dad & his whole family are there & are very friendly. Lots of regulars.

Confession: I was a chorizo virgin until now. I'm so glad I waited for true love - LOL! This place has been on my Yelp radar for awhile now, so on a recent swing through this part of town, we thought we'd stop by for brunch. I was torn between ordering breakfast or lunch, but decided to go for the "healthier" option of a taco salad with beef, which was delicious. The beef was actually strips of steak, as opposed to ground beef, which rocked my world. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and absolutely divine. And I decided to break my chorizo virginity by ordering a sample - OH MY GAWD. So good - the ploy worked as I ordered a vacuum sealed pack to bring home because I knew I have guests coming this weekend. Right now they are having a major deal on imported Portuguese olive oil. Great prices - grab some now while you can.

Catchin' up to some older bookmarks folks! Man, work and life can put you WAY behind some of the more important things to appreciate..like good food! I was in Carson City for work last year and I can still remember this place very well. I'll tell you right now, it's slim pickin' for excellent food in this lil' city but Villa Basque Deli is a lunchtime fav! Lots of folks frequent this place up for a good quick breakfast or a delightful meal during the lunch rush. Villa Basque Deli serves up some comfort favorites all day long. But their specialty is Pete's housemade Basque chorizo. This stuff is killer! And it's showcased all over their menu. It's a definite try if you love chorizo. Get some in an omelette, in a burrito, or even a sandwich! Muy delicioso. Salty, smoky, and spicy all rolled into one. All hail the sausage maker! It truly is some of the better chorizo I've ever had. The menu is pretty varied overall, mixing a little bit of everything from everywhere. You got your standard American sandwiches and burgers, you have Mexican fare with burritos and taco salads, and of course some Basque specialties like lamb stew. Much of the menu I hear from co-workers based in Carson City is very good. Besides the chorizo, I've been told that the biscuits & gravy is also a definite must have. Next time! Villa Basque Deli is not just that, they also have a small retail area and a butcher's case as well! Choose from some of the fresh made chorizo to pack up and take home! They go through TONS of this stuff daily since it's made fresh and travels very well. Just be sure to bring yourself a cooler. Service was quick and friendly, probably since the co-workers I went with are regulars. This place is nothing too fancy, and has much of that diner feel. But the food really does speak for itself. When I'm back in Carson City again I plan another visit back to Villa Basque Deli for sure!

Brother Mike and I were wasting gas on my day off and found ourselves in Carson City...again... LOL We decided to stop into Villa Basque as we had never been there before. I was actually on the hunt for the LA Bakery and Mike suggested this place. We just beat the lunch crowd in and soon there was a crowd!. The place is dated and funky with lots of cases of chorizo for sale, tamales etc.. Nothing fancy. But what a gem! I was reluctant to order the chorizo sandwich as almost every other one I have ever ingested was gristle and pepper. This was the best ever! A good texture and flavorful. Served on a good Franco sandwich roll. Brother had fish I believe. It disappeared totally. The waitress was exceptional in friendliness and handled the rush with the ease of a pro! She also was very informative, offering the daily specials and explaining menu items to surrounding guests.Plenty of parking. Prices were reasonable. I suspect I will be returning again soon on my wanderings south!

I can't believe I just found this place. I am a mad lover of Spanish food. Spanish Tapas is sexy food and we like sexy food. I find it difficult to find great Spanish chorizo for my recipes and quality Basque cheese. Being a 4th generation Nevadan, Basque food is history. This place makes Battle Mountain Chorizo, the best. They have great manchego cheese, flan, tamales, Portugese olive oil. I'm in foodie heaven. Whether you want to pull up a chair and stay awhile or buy food items for prep in your kitchen..this place is the motherlode.

The Basque Cheese Burger is a clear winner. First visit to Villa Basque Deli because of Yelp and Yelpers' great reviews of this fine eating establishment. After examining the extensive menu for a late weekday lunch (after a short day of Tahoe skiing), I chose the Basque Cheese Burger over the Sheepher Cheese Burger because I didn't want a beef patty to interfere with the chorizo patty goodness. Not having any previous culinary experience with basque chorizo, I was surprised with the meaty texture and flavor of the patty. The menu describes the fare as being made "with a chorizo patty and jalapenos." What an understatement. There's a high proportion of jalapenos to the slab of melty cheese. Savoring every bite, I hated for it to end. Coming from Silicon Valley, the Basque Deli will be added to my ski itinerary and when the ski season ends, I'll be loading up with their packaged chorizo to roll my own burgers to carry me thru to Dec when the season begins anew and I can once again enjoy Pete's basque chorizo dishes.

Ohh man. The food here is amazing. The tamales are as good or better than anything I had in New Mexico, The Chorizo is top notch, the sauce is great, I even liked the beans and I don't even like beans. I got the Vaquero for Breakfast, definitely the way to go if you want a "Best Of" this place. My wife had the Breakfast Burrito which I tried and was also great. I get the impression everything is awesome here

Wow. I mean WOW! As far as I can remember, the best Mexican food I've had. Decided to stop by Walmart. Spotted the place. Googled it. The luckiest I've been near a casino. We left with about $30 in frozen chorizo and tamales. Anyway, the lamb soup was excellent. "Tender" as one of the staff put it, and full of that gamey lamb flavor. Delish. I had the taco chorizo salad. The non-spicy chorizo and salsa were both wonderful. The tamales are simply the best I've ever had. The corn is normal. I mean corn is corn, but not dry like some make it. The meat was fantastic, both for chicken and pork. We'll soon try the frozen chorizo tamales we took with us. I expect they'll be even better. I love that you get more meat in them than most people make. What else? My son's chile verde burrito was a bit spicy. He's 7 and he ate 80% of it. Not too big a burrito. I then finished it off because, well, it was yummy. Not a place for going on a diet, but it's really not greasy or overly salty. I'm not big on salted foods. I never add it and usually feel restaurant food is over-salted. This was just right. If you're ever in Carson City, go here. GO HERE. Negatives? If you can say it's negative... I wish they served alcohol, especially beer on tap. A bit pricy for Mexican food, but not pricy for the quality and flavor. I'm so nitpicking.

Easily one of the best places to eat in the area. If you are looking for a great brunch ... Then look no further. Their best dishes often have, as an ingredient, sausage that they make themselves. You can even buy some of the sausage and take it home to use in your own cooking.

This is the place I've been looking for!!! After a week of eating crappy food while in Carson for work, I went in on Saturday afternoon and had the meal I had been looking for all week. Had lamb and eggs, andt was really wanting to try the chorizo. The very friendly waitress offered me a sample, and it was amazing. The lamb was perfect and the potatoes were wonderful. I didn't want gravy on my spuds, but the waitress brought me a sample anyway. She was so friendly (she even let the elderly gentleman at the next table use her glasses to read the menu.) which made the whole experience even better. I don't generally eat dessert, but I had to try the flan. The best I've ever had. Two thumbs up and 5 stars!!!

Great place to eat. Went here from the Yelp reviews and am very impressed. Nice welcoming atmosphere, gravy was the best I've had with a lot of flavor. Wish this place existed where I'm from. Would highly recommend it. Note: it's a seat yourself place.

I stopped in here for a late solo lunch one day. It's a nice deli set up. I guess they sell lots of Basque Chorizo cause the cold cases are pretty much dedicated to only that. I guess I will have to get some at some point. But today I wanna do lunch with Basque Salad and Basque beans as I know them. Never had basque outside of Nevada so I don't know if I know anything about it or not. But what I do know is I LIKE them beans and Salad together. I also loved the basque burger I got here. I've only been to a few places in Carson City and of them all, I would love to have this one closer in Reno. Will I return? Yes. Would I recommend it to friends? Yep...if they want a hearty meal.

I grew up in norther Nevada. We had basque festivals every year. I have eaten my share of chorizos and i love them. I grew up and were friends with a lot of basques. The ones i knew loved Lemaires (local grocery) in Battle Mt. I understand that Villa uses their recipe. If that's true, I highly recommend this place. On another note, I have actually tried their chorizo and its everything i remembered it to be. I drive from Reno to Carson City to buy their chorizo. It's authentic.

Fantastic homecooked fare. Perfectly ripe garden vegetables, fresh squeezed oranges, unique breads to toast, and home-made chorizo of all types. Try: Basque Omelette (three eggs, fresh pimientos, onions, mushrooms and more stuff) with potatoes and toast. Basque Burrito (optional avocado and jalapeno, grilled chorizo and eggs, served in a warm wrap and optional homemade fresh gravy). Quesadilla (very crispy tortillas filled with soft steamy potatoes, eggs, chorizo and cheese, served with salsa, sour cream, optional avocado and jalapeno). Chicken enchiladas (the plainest most potent enchiladas with shredded chicken, perfectly cooked and seasoned in tortillas and mildly spiced sauce, perfect rice and beans with a tortilla chip or two). Chuck omelette (it has both ground chuck and chorizo and tons of fresh, perfectly cooked vegetables). Served with toast and potatoes. The bread is toasted and totally chewy yet crisp AND soft. I have loved everything I've tried here. I always get fresh orange juice and coffee. The soft drinks here are excellent! The kids get cold chocolate and it's served in a special hot chocolate mug with a whipped cream swirl. Also there is a deli there for Basque food fans, and you will find a plethora of sheep's cheese and gorgeous chorizo, different types, and in different configurations. Yes they also have Portugese and imported olive oils and vinegars. We have spent a ton trying the different items for sale there and have enjoyed all the accessories and the condiments we have tried. Let me also say about the service. OMG the people there are so friendly! They are all probably family and they will actually remember your orders and your kids names and ages like they care a lot. Their uniforms are always neat and pressed and they seem really cheery. The cooks are busy and always seem to be in motion in the back and I've only ever sent one item back once because it wasn't supposed to have avocado. When you walk in, you are going to be welcomed by the smell of fresh homecooked food and simmering veggies and spices, so be prepared to eat! The only downside: it's family owned, so be prepared to dine on their schedule. There is NO B staff;when they go you can't dine.

Awesome Breakfast! And I generally don't care for breakfast foods. I ate everything on the plate! I also don't care for pulp in my OJ, but theirs was fresh made and it didn't bother me at all - I drank the whole glass. From the other reviews and photos, I wasn't sure what to expect from anything with "Deli" in the name. I was happily surprised that it's a full-on restaurant. They have lots of seating and a TON of Chorizo for sale. I bought a 12pack of the links (I think it was around $10) and used them in some Italian recipes. YUM. They make their own gravy, so if you like things such as gravy & biscuits then you are in for a real treat. I definitely plan on stopping back in here whenever I'm doing breakfast in the Carson area. Tip: bring a cooler and try the Chorizo. If you like it; they sell ice and Chorizo right there so you can take some home. Easy parking, friendly staff, low prices, fresh ingredients, large portions, and a great menu!

We went out to tour Carson City for a friend that was considering moving here. I had been wanting to try a basque restaurant since I have a passion for Chorizo...so we stopped into the Villa Basque Deli. It was a weekday afternoon, so there werent' many people inside. I was excited to see how much chorizo they sell...I bet that is the way to go. I ordered a Chorizo Burger, we shared some Chorizo Nachos, and the hubby had Lamb Stew. The burger was awesome...I love chorizo and it was exactly what I expected. The nachos were gone pretty quick. And, the Lamb Stew was slow-cooked to perfection...yum. Yes, I will be back. And, next time I will buy plenty of chorizo to take home!

I've lived right by this place for nearly 10 years, and have just recently started going. Why I waited so long I'm not sure! So far everything I've had there has been great. Their Chili Cheeseburger is a hardy meal for lunch. The French Dip has cheddar cheese and onions and the au jus is perfect every time! Chorizo is awesome. I take some home and will grill it or add it to other dishes, especially breakfast.

I have been a fan of their chorizo for a while but have never had a meal there. A mid-week breakfast changed that. I like CFS, thanks to Yelpers I didn't have to look at the menu. Wife got bacon and eggs, which were fine. The potatoes that come with breakfast are loaded with flavor and perfectly cooked. All other sellers of spuds in Carson City and thereabouts should take notice. The CFS is what you all want to know about and it was great. There are three components to a CFS and here they were all fantastic. From inside-out: Steak: No gristle, go ahead and put that knife under the meat away. There was a nice beefy taste and it wasn't overdone. (Note that gristle isn't a deal breaker for me, CFS is made from a tougher cut, I get it). Breading: Looks like maybe a light egg wash followed by a dip in flour and fine bread crumb? Not much seasoning in the breading (save for the necessary salt) which is pretty much what you want. Looks like a pan fry to me. Gravy: It's what makes or breaks a CFS, probably worth 75% of my score, and this gravy is really delicious. I'll wager it's due to the abundance of pork in this establishment and as Kara pointed out, there's some butter involved. It's a lighter style, kinda like a nice Béarnaise except with stuff that tastes good, like pork. The only thing that could have made it better is if they did the ol'-gravy-under-the-steak-trick, just because that's a nice surprise. but no stars off. Service was adequate for the establishment, but who cares when that gravy is so good?

We went here for lunch because of the good reviews on Yelp, and we were not disappointed. Food was amazing (our table of 7 had chorizo, lamb, and salads). Our waitress asked us if we had been there before, and when she found out we hadn't, brought us samples of their chorizo. She was also very helpful, and went out of her way to make us feel at home. Would highly recommend this business.

I've driven past this place a hundred times, and finally stopped in for lunch. The staff was attentive, and quite familiar from the pictures on the wall. I barely had room for the lunch I ordered, due to the samples they gave me of their other products. Warm and family friendly. Also surprisingly vegetarian friendly, for a meat market. Definitely a new neighborhood favorite

The location and appearance of this place has put us off going here- and our general disappointment with food in the Carson Area. The french place next door was closed (Monday) so we walked over. It was 12:30 and their table-crowded dining area was busy with locals obviously enjoying themselves. Service was quick and the menu extensive. Her "carne asada" had two thin-style steaks, shrimp, rice and beans and was tasty and filling. His "basque burrito" was huge, and filled with scrambled eggs, chorizo, cheese and other yummy stuff and covered in chorizo gravy. Even thought the atmosphere is kinda cafeteria, the food is great and there is now one non-chain place in Carson we can count on.

Place looks charming and I'm told they do good breakfast standards and have a wonderful housemade chorizo. However I can only judge my own experience and I have to say the Paella was one of the most disgusting excuses for Paella I've ever had. It smelled terribley fishy and tasted pretty bad. The mussels were definitely frozen prior and perhaps too long, they were watery and fishy. The rice was bland and mushy, perhaps reheated from the day before? It didn't have that nice pan fried fusion of all the wonderful elements of a good Paella. My partner enjoyed his food though, said it was standard diner fare.

I'd travel from the bay area any time for the famous Basque Breakfast Burrito - loaded with chorizo, eggs, potato, onions, jalopeno peppers, avocado and topped with gravy - YES GRAVY - this is such a morning treat; especially after an evening in Reno. The staff and service is what'd you'd expect from a family restaurant. Always friendly!

Random find on a random trip to Carson City from Tahoe. Split the Breakfast Chorizo Burrito with a side of gravy and a short stack of blueberry pancakes. All I can say is fantastic. The chorizo was delicious and nothing beats pancakes with fresh blueberries. A great find.

The chorizo was great but everything else was pretty boring. I had the Chorizo and Eggs breakfast with sour dough toast. I must admit, the chorizo was quite good. However, the potatoes were quite boring, the gravy tasteless, and the coffee was particularly stale. I won't be hurrying back.

I am in love! We travel down the pass to hit up Trader Joe's, World Market and Target frequently from South Lake Tahoe, but often find us in a conundrum: starving and in the land of fast food chains. I 1) do not eat fast food and 2) do not like chains. After talking about good food once, a customer of mine mentioned the Villa Basque which he claimed sold chorizo (yumm!) by the pound and link. We finally made it down there the other day and not only do they sell both frozen and fresh by the pound or link, hot or mild, they also sell tamales to go and serve breakfast, lunch or dinner. I had two chorizo tacos with rice and beans and they were awesome. The BF had a super burrito with chorizo that tops all super burritos. We will be back again and again despite it's distance from Trader Joe's and SLT.

We found Villa Basque through Yelp while on a day trip to Carson City. The reviewers don't lie - this place was great. We were there on a weekend at about noon, so three of us had breakfast and one had lunch. The three meat-eaters in the group all tried chorizo dishes and we were not disappointed. Huge breakfast burritos, well-prepared and well-seasoned. The vegetarian (not me) had a veggie burrito that looked tasty, as well. The service was friendly and attentive. Three of us ended up buying homemade chorizo links to go, for our husbands back in Sacramento. You can also buy bulk (non-link) chorizo and tamales from the refrigerated deli case. An excellent stop when you're in Carson City.

Only open for lunch, this is a very good place to eat. Their specialty is home made chorizo sausage, and it is excellent. Only 3 stars because they don't serve beer, an absolute necessity with such great sausages!
